My sister and I share a hobby; we sell apples on weekends at the lobby of our condominium. We enjoy doing this because we want to promote a healthy diet and we love to see how it puts a smile on everyone’s faces. We have a special treasure chest where we keep our favorite belongings. Inside, there are shiny apples and sparkly things like our precious pearl necklace. We put “apple-coins” and money from selling apples in a separate compartment, so we can learn to save up for things that we want to purchase. We only take it out on very special occasions, like when we can purchase matching hair brushes! Our treasure chest holds many magical things but the best of them all are our memories as sisters.
In this work, I am inspired by David Hockey’s art style where he uses many bright colours and interesting textures. His works remind me of a journey, as my eyes follows the strokes and patterns that he has generously laid out onto his paintings. I truly enjoy looking at them and I hope others can enjoy looking at my work as well.
